In 1917 the Duke of Portland was William Arthur Charles Cavendish-Bentinck (the 6th Duke of Portland). He was known for his vast estates, his involvement in horse racing, and his role in the Conservative party.

A handsome whip by a prestigious maker that has a wonderful tactile feel.
Hallmarked: Fully hallmarked with Leopards head for London. Date letter b for 1917. 12 .5 for 12 carat gold and Maker's mark of C.C Brigg London for Charles Cooke and Brigg.

Dimensions: Length: 60 cm (23 1/2") in total. Ball Handle Diameter: 4 cm (1 1/2").
Weight: 322 g.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. Please see pictures.
