This wall-mounted decorative fan combines a finely crafted folding fan with an ornate Rococo-style frame intended for display. The painted leaf depicts an elegant pastoral fête galante scene, with figures in 18th-century court dress dancing and conversing in a garden setting, reflecting the Rococo revival taste popular in the later 19th century.

The fan’s guards and sticks are intricately pierced and decorated with scrolling foliate and floral motifs highlighted with polychrome and gilded accents. At the center, a gilt cartouche with classical figures is surrounded by elaborate ornamental designs.

The fan is mounted within an exuberant carved and gilt frame ornamented with scrolling acanthus and shell motifs, transforming the accessory into a decorative wall object. Such framed fans reflect the late 19th-century practice of displaying elaborate fans as works of art within interior decoration.
