This Georgian serving dish is an 18th-century soft-paste porcelain junket dish from the 1st Period Worcester factory, made around 1770 in the pine cone pattern. The soft white body carries a vibrant cobalt blue glaze forming intricate printed floral and fruit motifs across the interior, complemented by a scalloped rim, shaped edges, and an embossed moulded shell relief. The round bowl displays a high-gloss finish on its ceramic surface, crisp blue-and-white painted detailing, and gently fluted panels that catch the light. Measuring 25 cm in diameter, the dish is compact enough for practical daily service or display. In a modern interior, this piece suits a traditional dining room or English country house setting as a decorative serving vessel on a sideboard top, a fruit bowl on a dining table, or an accent display piece in a glass-fronted cabinet.

A junket dish is a shallow, moulded porcelain bowl originally produced in eighteenth-century England to serve a milk-based curded dessert called junket. First Period Worcester pieces date from approximately 1751 to 1783, a period defined by Dr John Walls management of the factory.

These ceramics were crafted using soft-paste porcelain that incorporated soapstone (steatite) sourced from Cornwall, rendering the body heat-resistant. The decorative blue designs were applied via hand-painting or transfer-printing using cobalt oxide glaze prior to firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit a greenish or greyish translucency when held to a light source, alongside characteristic worker marks, crescent marks, or square marks on the base. The underside often displays a thin glaze with minor pooling near the rim.

A blue and white porcelain dish can serve as a decorative object on a sideboard top, open kitchen shelving, or a dining table. Pairing classic cobalt motifs with contemporary neutral surfaces provides a balanced accent in modern rooms.

Hand wash the ceramic with lukewarm water and a mild, unperfumed soap using a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive sponges. Keep 18th-century porcelain out of dishwashers and microwaves, as temperature shocks cause thermal fracturing.
