Description

This achromatic telescope folds up small enough to fit into the pocket. It has a mahogany barrel and three brass draw tubes. The brass fittings include a sliding eyepiece cover, an objective lens cap and a sliding sunshade.

The maker's name is inscribed on the smallest draw tube as 'Cox, / DEVONPORT'. Devonport is the largest Naval Base in Western Europe, situated in England's West Country in the county of Devon.

Measures 7 1/8" in length closed and 23 1/4" fully extended with sunshade in use. Excellent condition having been professionally re-polished. Circa 1850.
