Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Torador is a traditional Indian matchlock musket introduced during the Mughal era and widely used across the Indian subcontinent through the nineteenth century. Characterised by a long steel barrel and slender wooden stock, it relied on a slow-burning match mechanism to ignite the powder charge.

Torador muskets were constructed using a hand-forged steel or iron barrel bound to a hardwood stock with metal, cord, or leather bands. The ignition lock mechanism was crafted from iron or steel, occasionally decorated with brass side plates or bone inlays.

Authentic matchlock firearms feature hand-forged construction marks along the barrel, period-appropriate patination on metal surfaces, and original mechanical components like the matchholder serpentine. Authentic pieces show natural wear around the touchhole and lock plate consistent with historic black powder usage.

Antique firearms are commonly displayed horizontally on custom wall mounts or supported by minimalist acrylic display stands on shelving. Positioned against a neutral backdrop, the extended silhouette serves as a linear focal point in a study or library setting.

Store the item in a climate-controlled room with stable humidity to prevent the wooden stock from splitting or warping. Apply microcrystalline wax to both the wooden stock and steel barrel to shield the surface from moisture oxidisation and dust build-up.
