Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The piece includes a polished rectangular top with rounded corners, a pair of frieze drawers fitted with small turned wooden knobs, and dummy drawers to the rear. Twin carved end supports terminate in splayed legs with original castors, united by an under-stretcher with central turning details. Measuring 72 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 69 cm deep, the table sits comfortably in a home study, library, or drawing room as a practical desk or writing surface. The compact proportions allow placement against a wall or centrally within a room, providing accessible drawer storage and a stable working area for daily use.

FAQs

A Victorian library table is a substantial writing surface produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), typically characterized by solid hardwood or veneered construction, frieze drawers for storage, and sturdy carved end supports or legs suited for a study or library environment.

High-end Victorian furniture frequently incorporated decorative timber veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, or rosewood over solid pine or oak carcases, complemented by hand-turned drawer knobs and hand-cut dovetail joints.

Authentic pieces display signs of period craftsmanship, including hand-cut dovetail joints inside drawers, original brass or timber drawer locks, maker stamps or paper labels on the underside or drawer linings, and natural age-related patination.

Place the table as a central desk in a modern home office, or position it behind a floating sofa in a living room as a console table, pairing it with contemporary lighting to contrast classic craftsmanship with modern elements.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the table away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent the wood veneer from drying out or lifting.
