We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian furniture spans the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) and is characterised by a revival of historic styles including Gothic, Elizabethan, and Rococo, alongside the later aesthetic movement, featuring robust construction and ornate detailing.

Nineteenth-century console tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often paired with imported slab marble tops and decorative turned or carved wooden supports.

Authentication involves examining construction methods such as hand-cut joinery, natural timber ageing, oxidisation marks on fixings, and the specific geological characteristics and thickness of the fitted marble slab.

An antique console table works effectively in contemporary spaces by providing a contrasting textural focal point in a hallway or living room, styled minimally with modern ceramics or metallic lighting to bridge historical and modern design.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources, applying periodic microcrystalline wax to finished wood surfaces, and cleaning marble exclusively with pH-neutral solutions to prevent etching.
