Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique French farmhouse coffee table from the mid-nineteenth century is made of solid cherry wood with a warm brown colour and a honey patina. The rectangular plank top rests on square tapered legs, and one end features a single drawer fitted with a turned wooden knob. Visible details include a replaced drawer liner, an old wood patch let into one side, and natural grain variations showing honest wear. Measuring 128.5 cm wide by 80 cm deep, the table provides a practical surface and concealed storage for a living room, study, or open-plan lounge. It suits traditional or rustic farmhouse interiors as a central low table for drinks, books, and everyday items.

FAQs

Tables from this era typically feature straightforward joinery, solid timber construction, functional drawers, and simple tapered or turned legs suited for daily practical use.

Craftsmen commonly used local hardwoods such as cherry, oak, walnut, and pine, selecting solid planks for surface durability and natural colour depth.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct drawer runners, natural oxidation in the wood grain, and irregular wear consistent with historical age.

Position the table centrally within a seating group to highlight its rich warm grain alongside neutral upholstery, linen textiles, and contemporary ceramics.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish occasionally, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the patinated surface.
