We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Maintain timber surfaces by dusting with a dry, soft cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding silicone-based sprays. Marble tops should be cleaned using a damp cloth with mild soap, avoiding acidic substances that can etch the stone surface.

This type of occasional table functions effectively as a standalone accent piece next to a sofa or as a display surface for a ceramic lamp and collected objects. Its classical silhouette provides a grounding contrast against minimalist modern furnishings or complements a traditional period room.

Authentic revival pieces from around 1900 display period-accurate joinery, natural timber ageing, and hand-finished cast metal mounts rather than modern synthetic adhesives or machine-stamped hardware. Examination of the timber grain, underside construction, and marble edging helps verify the manufacturing era.

Authentic gueridon tables typically utilise dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, often featuring inset marble tops and cast gilt-bronze or brass mounts. Construction generally involves traditional joinery methods, with turned columns supported by a triform or pedestal base.

The French Empire style emerged during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, heavily influenced by neoclassical architecture and the archaeological discoveries of ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. It was characterised by a formal, symmetrical aesthetic designed to project imperial power and classical grandeur.
