Antique Early Treen 18thc Turned Yew Wood "Master" Salt. English C1780-c1800.

Description

An impressive late 18thc yew wood "Master" salt, known as this, because of the size and it would have been placed on the "master's" top table....it is beautifully turned and stands on a slightly raised stepped base and is decorated with wide double ring turn decoration....in very good condition with only a small historic crack, which was professionally filled a long time ago and now has become part of this lovely piece (see picture). It has gained a very good colour and natural patination that yew gains with age and use...
