A superb late Victorian oak and brass umbrella stand by James Shoolbred & Co., renowned London cabinetmakers celebrated for their high-quality furnishings in the Aesthetic and late Victorian styles.
This fine example features a solid oak frame with crisp moulded panels and rich, warm patina. The stand is accented with elegant brass fittings, including decorative finials, a shaped brass rail for umbrellas or walking sticks, and a beautifully cast drip tray at the base. The upper section includes a small oak shelf with a delicate brass gallery, ideal for keys or gloves, supported by a curved brass bracket.
The craftsmanship and design are typical of Shoolbred’s work — refined proportions, excellent joinery, and subtle decorative brasswork combining both form and function.
