We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Tunbridge ware work table is a mid-19th-century Victorian accent table produced primarily in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. It is defined by decorative mosaic-like marquetry created from varied natural timber strips assembled to form landscapes, geometric borders, or floral motifs.

These tables were typically constructed using native and imported hardwoods such as burr walnut, rosewood, and mahogany. The mosaic patterns utilized naturally coloured timbers including holly, boxwood, yew, plum, and oak without artificial dyes.

Authentic pieces exhibit intricate tessellated timber inlays rather than painted designs or modern printed veneers. Look for period joinery features such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass castors, turned stretchers, and natural age-related patination on the timber surface.

An antique work table functions well as a decorative side table alongside a sofa, positioned in a window bay, or placed in an entryway. Pair it with neutral soft furnishings to allow the detailed marquetry top to serve as the visual focal point.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer lifting and colour bleaching. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly along the wood grain to protect the finish.
