Very Rare Pair of Early Spode Sprig Ware Pot Pourri Baskets – c.1790

An exceptionally rare matching pair of early Spode Sprigged Stoneware Pot Pourri Baskets, dating from around 1790. These exquisite examples are highly sought after, as very few have survived due to their delicate handmade construction.

Each basket features a rich cobalt blue body beautifully decorated with white sprigged relief scenes of cherubs at play, showcasing Spode’s superb craftsmanship from the late 18th to early 19th century.

One basket has a glued perforated lid and a small chip to the white piped edging.

The other has a small chip where the handle meets the rim.

Both are otherwise in remarkably good condition for their age.

Each piece is clearly stamped “SPODE” to the base and measures approximately 15 cm high and 17 cm wide.

A wonderful and extremely rare pair of early Spode ceramics — a perfect addition for serious collectors of Georgian pottery or fine English stoneware.
