FAQs

French farmhouse tables originated in rural France, where they served as the central hub for daily family life, food preparation, and communal dining in provincial homesteads.

These tables are traditionally constructed from heavy domestic hardwoods like oak, chestnut, or fruitwood, featuring mortise and tenon joinery and pegged joints for durability.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, natural wear patterns from decades of use, traditional hand-cut joinery, and patination consistent with age.

Pair the rustic timber texture with contemporary minimalist seating or industrial lighting to create a balanced, layered aesthetic in a modern dining space.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity, and occasionally treating the surface with natural beeswax.
