Signed ‘Erich Oehme 1938’ with Meissen trademark. Ca 20cm long x 6cm wide x 18cm high, weight 700g. Mounted on a wooden base.

Erich Oehme was one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century. His Meissen horse sculptures, designed with great care and attention to detail between 1935 and 1952, are award-winning specimens ranging from important studs to individual star portraits from the riding and dressage scene. The sculpture ‘Horse Alchemist’ is based on one of the most important thoroughbred breeding stallions, ‘Birkhahn’.
