Antique Samson & Mordan Postal Scales

1900 - 1920
Description

A lovely set of original antique scales, most likely postal scales. They are a particularly large and good quality set on an oak base. The scales themselves are brass and are stamped with the maker's name "S.Mordan & Co London".

The scales come with a set of six stacking brass weights weighing from 8oz to 1/2oz.

The set is in good original condition. They have been lightly cleaned and polished to retain their natural patina and aged look. The brass has tarnished with age and there are some small knocks and scuffs around the base but no major damage and they display very nicely. The scales appear to work as they should do but I have not tested them for accuracy and they are really being sold as a decorative item rather than an accurate scientific set of scales.
