FAQs

Nineteenth-century French furniture encompasses a transition from the ornate neoclassical revivals of the Empire and Restoration periods to more eclectic historicism, often featuring rich timber and classical motifs.

These tables typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak for the structural base, paired with heavy slabs of polished marble for the top surface.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved detailing, natural ageing on the timber and marble, and traditional hand-finishing techniques without modern hardware.

Position the table as a focal point in a large room or hallway, balancing its historical weight with minimalist modern seating or contemporary lighting fixtures.

Clean the wooden elements with a dry cloth and occasionally apply appropriate wax, while wiping the marble surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding acidic substances.
