Charming Antique English Figural Dog Money Bank / Box

Description

Dating to the late nineteenth century, this English Victorian money box or bank is modeled from Spelter (white metal) in the form of a dog, at first I though a Pekingese but I think most probably a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

The dog is laying with one leg stretched out and the other bent back; the dog beautifully modelled and painted with detail including his very hypnotic eyes.

The clip to the front is finished with a little heart shaped faux padlock, the pin pushes and lifts to open and clips shut but it doesn't and was never made to actually lock, but has a realistic tiny keyhole.

Excellent condition and measuring 6" in length x 2 1/2" at widest x 2 1/2" tall. C.1890.
