In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The top layer lifts out to reveal more storage space below with a few additional items such as rulers.
The whole set is in good condition for its age. It has obviously been well looked after and all the instruments are in good condition. There is some minor wear and light tarnishing / rust on some of the metal parts but nothing detrimental. The rosewood box is in good condition with just some light marks and a couple of small chips but overall it displays very well.
