The urn was made in Vienna (Austria) in the late 19th century, probably at the famous Royal Vienna kiln, the official supplier to the Habsburg Imperial Household and the Empress Maria Theresa. Interest in 16th-17th century (Renaissance to Baroque) art grew in the late 19th century, resulting in the emergence of a large number of magnificent enamel-decorated works. Royal Vienna or Vienna porcelain is characterised by its exquisite quality, often featuring hand-painted scenes of classical mythology, portraits, or romantic subjects, surrounded by intricate gilded decoration.
