Type of Item: Original Victorian Wooden Police Truncheon

Surface & Material: Turned hardwood with varnished finish, gilt A.V.R. cipher

Approximate Age: Circa 1880s

Description: A finely preserved 19th-century British police truncheon featuring the gilt-lettered cipher A.V.R. (Armed Volunteer Reserve). The piece has a rich dark patina, ribbed grip, rounded terminal, and retains traces of its original varnish. This is a classic example of ceremonial or auxiliary law enforcement equipment issued to part-time or special duty constables.

Condition Report:

This truncheon is in very good antique condition. Minor surface marks consistent with age, and some fading to the gilt cipher as shown. No major cracks or splits. Please study the photos carefully and feel free to request further details prior to purchase
