Description

This is a fabulous diorama depicting the London to Dover steam railway train in the 19th Century.

The diorama is meticulously crafted and shows a steam train pulling four carriages including a tender wagon and three with passenger compartments. Set within a landscape of rolling hills and deep hued skies the diorama carries the title 'London to Dover Rly Coy 1856' and the phrase 'London to Folkestone in 3 hours', which must have been quite an achievement in those days. The carriage wheels and the strapping of the engine are in metal.

A beautifully decorative piece, this is in excellent condition, probably dating from the early 20th Century and is a real one off piece of interesting folk art.

It measures 104 cms long, 36 cms high and 10 cms deep and looks fabulous when displayed.

This is photographed without the glass front, in all but the first picture to avoid reflection and show the detail.
