An Excellent Quality 19th Century French Burr Wood Guéridon with Marble Top.
This lovely guéridon has been made to the very highest level of quality. The burr timber used throughout is of excellent colour and figure. The stretcher is connected to the table frieze by four columns. The top is a thick piece of dark grey and white veined marble with an edge moulding which overhangs the frieze. Standing on inset castors making it easy to move if necessary, and the other decorative metalware used throughout is particularly noteworthy. The table is mounted with gilt bronze, ormolu, in the form of a central urn on the platform stretcher and base and capital mounts on the four columns, giving this a neoclassical feel. The mounts are exceptionally well cast and chased and retain much of their original gilding which has aged beautifully.
An excellent quality model with fabulous colour and patination. Must be seen to be truly appreciated.
