Yew wood has been utilised by British cabinet makers for centuries, prized for its dense grain and rich hue, particularly in regional furniture making during the 18th and 19th centuries.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames combined with burr yew veneers on the top surface, supported by turned central columns and shaped bracket feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joints, natural timber shrinkage, oxidisation consistent with age, and traditional polishing methods rather than modern synthetic finishes.

Placing the table beside a modern sofa provides a functional surface while introducing warmth, historical contrast, and organic texture to the room.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
