I was very pleased to find this rare item of social history...it is a 19thc "Petty Sessional Division Of Bolton Penalties Board" dated the 4th day of May 1891 with full description of offences, the fine including costs and the default charge in days and the second offence including costs, default charge and maximum penalty ....some of the entries are for Drunk in charge of cart - 15 shillings - default 7 days - Highway Offences - 10 shillings - Dog unmuzzled - 5 shillings - Not sending child to school - 10 shillings - Vagrants sleeping out - Begging - Prostitution - 7 days hard labour....and many more. The board is in very good condition with a natural patination from age and use....very good colour....
