Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Antique country kitchen tables from the 18th and 19th centuries were utilitarian pieces built by regional craftsmen, typically featuring simple lines and functional designs tailored for everyday domestic use.

These tables were constructed using sturdy native timbers such as elm for durable table tops and pine or oak for the frames and legs, chosen for their local availability and resilience.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, tool marks, period-appropriate fasteners, and natural patination accumulated over centuries of use.

Pairing the natural warmth and historical texture of an antique wooden table with contemporary seating creates a balanced contrast that anchors a modern dining space or kitchen.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, cleaning with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood.
