Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Kufic is one of the earliest angular calligraphic forms of Arabic script, originating in Kufa, Iraq. It was predominantly used from the seventh to the tenth centuries for copying religious texts, monumental inscriptions, and architectural decorations throughout the Islamic world.

Ninth-century Abbasid manuscripts were typically created using parchment or vellum made from processed animal hides. The calligraphy was written with reed pens using iron gall or carbon ink, often accented with red or green mineral pigments for vocalisation marks.

Authentic leaves from this period exhibit a prominent horizontal format, elongated horizontal strokes, and a lack of modern Arabic diacritical points. Vocalisation is frequently indicated by red dots, and the texture and unevenness of hand-prepared animal parchment are visible under close inspection.

Framed manuscript leaves function as focal art pieces in understated or traditional interiors. They are often displayed within gallery walls, mounted in library settings, or placed above consoles and sideboards where their graphic calligraphic detail can be appreciated at eye level.

Parchment manuscripts must be housed in a climate-controlled environment with relative humidity kept between 45% and 55% to prevent warping. They should be framed using museum-grade UV-filtering glass, acid-free archival mats, and kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
