Norris planes, manufactured in London during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are renowned among collectors and woodworkers for their precision engineering, innovative adjuster mechanisms, and exceptional craftsmanship.

These planes typically feature dense hardwoods such as beech or sometimes exotic woods for the body, combined with high-grade cast steel cutter irons and brass levers or adjusters.

Authentic pieces usually feature makers stamps on the steel iron or the wooden body, distinctive Norris patent adjuster mechanisms, and precise dovetail or infill construction characteristics.

Such items are frequently displayed on bookshelves, mantelpieces, or dedicated wall shelving in studies and workshops to add industrial character and historical texture.

Preservation involves storing the tool in a stable, low-humidity environment, applying microcrystalline wax or light mineral oil to metal parts to prevent corrosion, and treating the wood with neutral paste wax.
