FAQs

Victorian furniture encompasses a range of revival styles popular during the reign of Queen Victoria, characterising intricate craftsmanship, rich dark timbers, and ornate decorative motifs.

Cabinet makers predominantly utilised solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, and walnut, frequently applying decorative veneers like burr walnut and exotic wood marquetry.

Authenticity is typically determined by examining traditional joinery techniques, timber oxidisation, hand-cut veneer work, and the presence of period-appropriate hand-carved detailing.

Pairing historical timber pieces with minimalist upholstery and neutral walls creates a balanced interior, allowing the intricate grain and marquetry to serve as a focal point.

Maintain the finish by keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and apply traditional beeswax periodically to nourish and protect the wood surface.
