Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The quality is outstanding, this is as fine a writing table of the period as you could find.
The top and lower edges are beautifully shaped, the legs have a bold tapered baluster design and also have burr walnut banding running down them. There is fine quality ormolu beading around the edges and beautifully designed ormolu handles. This stands on original brass casters, the drawers have fine, hand cut dovetailed joints and run smoothly.

The back of the desk is nicely finished, so this can be used as a free standing item.
The condition is excellent for its age, we have just had this re-polished. The leather top has also been replaced with a hand coloured and tooled faded black leather.
