The George III style spans the reign of King George III from 1760 to 1820, encompassing influences from early neoclassical designs to Regency aesthetics, characterised by refined proportions, expert cabinetmaking, and classical motifs.

Pembroke tables were traditionally constructed using fine timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, and walnut, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, hinged drop leaves supported by swing brackets, and often intricate marquetry or stringing.

Maintain satinwood furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, avoiding silicone-based polishes, and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the polished surface.

A Pembroke table can be styled as an accent piece against a wall with one or both leaves dropped, or placed behind a sofa, topped with contemporary ceramic lamps or minimalist decorative objects to create a juxtaposition of eras.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage consistent with age, authentic hand-forged or cast brass hardware, and secondary woods typical of the region and period of manufacture.
