FAQs

Traditional French low tables often originate from provincial or country workshops, prioritising functional joinery and sturdy timbers like cherry or oak over elaborate ornamentation.

These tables are typically constructed using solid regional hardwoods such as cherrywood, employing traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon with hand-turned legs.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surfaces, traditional tool marks, natural timber oxidisation, and period-appropriate joinery rather than modern fasteners.

It can be paired with contemporary upholstered seating to create textural contrast, using the rich timber tones to ground a neutral living space.

Preserve the timber by maintaining stable room humidity, avoiding direct sunlight, and treating periodically with natural beeswax to maintain the finish.
