FAQs

The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome, and the prominent use of exotic imported timbers such as rosewood and mahogany.

These tables typically feature solid timber frames with figured veneer surfaces, hand-cut dovetail drawer construction, brass hardware, and turned or carved supports often terminating in brass castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, secondary woods like pine or oak inside drawers, natural patination, and traditional hand-applied polish without modern synthetic finishes.

A historical library table functions effectively as a freestanding writing desk or console, providing a rich textural contrast when paired with contemporary seating and minimalist lighting.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply traditional beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
