Mid C19th Italian ‘Grand Tour’ souvenir double-sided faux book containing a selection of various plaster intaglios by Paoletti .

Opening to reveal varying sized finely-cast and detailed plaster intaglio impressions of classical and Renaissance subjects and sculptures . The inside covers printed with scripted indices and descriptions. The intaglios include images of Bacchus, Hercules and Mercury.

The tan brown leather spine with gilt lettering “Paoletti Impronte” and “Opere Di Vaj Autori”. The covers having marbled paper covers .

In excellent original condition with minor wear to the outer corners and spine of the ‘book’ commensurate with age and use

The Paoletti firm’s studio in Rome was located on Piazza de Spagna , and they enjoyed a stellar reputation, having amongst their clients European royalty and nobility. Examples of their work are held in major cities and collections of the world including the V & A , London.
