Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian demi-lune furniture is characterised by its semi-circular form, symmetrical balance, and restrained classical proportions. Emerging in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, these tables often feature fine wood veneers, stringing inlays, and slender tapered legs.

Cabinetmakers primarily used dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany for the primary structure, accented with boxwood, satinwood, or rosewood inlays. The frame beneath the veneer was typically built from native softwoods or oak.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn timber marks on unpolished undersides, and subtle irregularities consistent with period handtools. Natural shrinkage of the timber over time often results in slight oval distortion rather than a perfectly geometric curve.

Position the table flat against a hallway or entryway wall to maximise floor space while providing a functional surface. Complement the warm mahogany wood with a contemporary wall mirror above or a simple architectural ceramic lamp on top.

Dust regularly with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, or damp walls to prevent the veneer from lifting or fading.
