FAQs

Victorian occasional tables gained popularity during the 19th century as versatile pieces used for serving wine, displaying decorative objects, or holding lamps in parlours and drawing rooms.

Cabinet makers frequently utilised solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and oak, often applying highly figured burr walnut veneers to table tops for visual richness.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional construction methods, such as hand-cut joints, natural timber ageing, patination, and period-specific carving techniques.

Such pieces can serve as contrasting focal points in modern settings, placed beside minimalist sofas or used to display contemporary ceramics and art.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and clean periodically with a soft cloth and quality beeswax polish.
