Pair of late C19th French Louis XVI period style ormolu-mounted marble cassolettes.

Of ‘Athenienne’ neo-classical form , the ovoid white marble bodies raised on triple monopodia supports having cast rams-head detail and cloven-hoof ‘pied de biche’ feet onto a circular base with ormolu beaded mounds. The bodies with floral swag ormolu mounts, the reversible domed lids with cast berry and leaf finials and having candle-holder sconces to the obverse .

IA smart pair of cassolette candlesticks in excellent original condition with bright ormolu gilding to the well-cast bronze mounts and the white marble having achieved a good display surface and patina.
