This pair of nineteenth-century Victorian Staffordshire spaniel figurines is formed from press-moulded earthenware with a glossy white glaze and hand-painted terracotta red patch fur markings. Each seated dog has painted black facial features and a black painted chain collar detail across its chest. Light general wear is visible across the surfaces, and one figure includes an old repair to the rear while remaining structurally sound. The figurines measure 24 cm high, 19 cm wide and 12 cm deep for the larger example, and 23 cm high, 18 cm wide and 12 cm deep for the smaller one.
