FAQs

A Victorian tripod table is a small, portable occasional table featuring a circular top supported by a central pillar and three legs, popular during the 19th century for serving tea or displaying decorative objects.

These tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often featuring hand-turned pedestals and dovetail or cleat joinery beneath the top.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved or turned elements, traditional patination, and timber shrinkage consistent with nineteenth-century manufacturing methods.

It can be placed beside a sofa or in an empty corner as a functional surface for a lamp, small sculpture, or stack of books, adding historical contrast to contemporary furnishings.

Preserve the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish.
