A Fine British Calling Card Case, Early 19th C Mother of Pearl with Engraved Shooting Scene.

This fine and rare example of an early 19th-century British gentleman's calling card case is beautifully veneered in pale shimmering mother of pearl, and delicately hand-engraved to a high standard. The main front panel shows a pheasant being set up by a gun dog, with a tree and foliage in the distance.

This superb central panel has a small patterned boarder which is further enhanced with fine floral corner motifs.

The reverse has a similar decoration apart from the centre panel which on this side has floral decoration.

The case is in very good condition with a fully working hinge and a button release clasp. The interior retains its original red velvet lining.
