Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
A superbly stylish 18th century, southern France terracotta walnut oil jar with established timeworn olive green/brown glaze and original intact handle and low level hole for tap/plug for pouring, which could equally make a great lamp base access for cable.

A wonderful example of an early Southern France, handmade Provencial oil jar with a magnificent crusty glaze and enough timeworn presence, no cracks to the body and very stable and good weight, areas of obvious nibbles to the body which add to its authenticity.
