Brookside Antiques

Dear customers all items of furniture can be viewed at our premises at Norbury in Shropshire SY13 4HY by appointment only, this is due to items being packed away in storage. ( and we would need to unpack them for display, please note this is not a problem, as we welcome viewers/customers)

We are a furniture restoration workshop, busy from day to day doing restoration work for the trade and general public alike.

All items for sale have been restored if restoration is required, unless otherwise stated. Upholstered items will have been re-upholstered, however if the fabric choice is not to taste, we offer a re-upholstery service in customers own fabric, or from our wide range of Linwood and Jim Dickens Fabric ( samples available )

Regards Gerard James

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Early 20th century tables often combined traditional craftsmanship with functional domestic designs, drawing inspiration from earlier historical revivals while prioritising everyday utility.

These items were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods like oak, utilising traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints to ensure structural longevity.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining tool marks, timber shrinkage, historical wear patterns, and traditional construction methods consistent with early 20th-century cabinetmaking.

This piece can be integrated into modern schemes by using it as a functional bedside or side table, adding textural warmth and historical contrast to minimalist spaces.

Preserve the finish by keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and maintain the surface periodically with natural beeswax rather than modern silicon polishes.
