FAQs

Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions and heavily influenced by Greco-Roman designs, often featuring dark exotic woods like rosewood and mahogany.

Cabinet makers of the Regency period frequently utilised dense tropical hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often incorporating brass castors and intricate carved wooden details.

Authentication involves examining timber grain, hand-cut joinery, patination, and the presence of original brass castors and hardware consistent with early 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

This piece functions effectively as an accent surface in a living space or study, pairing well with modern upholstery to create a curated, layered aesthetic.

Preservation requires maintaining stable room humidity, keeping the timber out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and treating the surface periodically with traditional beeswax.
