Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A William IV work and reading table is a multifunctional 19th-century piece of furniture designed for needlework, writing, and reading, typically featuring a hinged top with an inset leather writing surface and an attached fabric basket underneath for storing textiles.

These tables are traditionally constructed from high-quality hardwoods like figured walnut or mahogany, often featuring finely turned stretcher supports, carved scrolling legs, and fitted interiors with silk or fabric components.

Authentic pieces from the William IV era, spanning from 1830 to 1837, exhibit a transition between Regency classical proportions and early Victorian elaboration, characterised by robust scrollwork, rich wood grain figures, and traditional hand-cut joinery.

An antique work table functions effectively as an accent piece in a living room, study, or hallway, adding historical texture and compact functionality while contrasting against contemporary upholstery and minimalist decor.

Preserve the piece by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting and leather cracking, and clean the surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and specialised wood wax.
