Description

A fine and rare Davenport terracotta wine cooler, c. 1810. The oval shaped pot, moulded with with continuous band of vine and grapes, suspended from amusing twin Bacchus mask handles, beneath a banded rim. The leaves and banding decorated in green enamel

Set upon a large oval spreading foot, modelled with further vine leaves, above a banded rim, similarly enamelled.

The quality of the moulding is particularly fine.

Impressed factory mark to the base.

Length – 42 cm, 16 1/2”.

Height – 24.5 cm, 9 5/8”.

Depth – 23.5 cm, 9 1/4”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
