Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Carved wooden door surrounds, known as archways or portals, served both functional and symbolic purposes in traditional South Asian buildings and temples. They delineated sacred or private spaces and were decorated with carvings representing protection, prosperity, and regional cultural motifs.

Teak wood was the primary timber utilised due to its high density, natural oil content, and resistance to decay, insects, and moisture. Other regional hardwoods were occasionally selected based on availability and carving requirements.

Authentic historic elements display subtle irregularities from hand-tool chiselling, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural wear along contact points. Unfinished aged teak typically develops a pale or muted tone over time.

Architectural surrounds can be installed around existing doorways to frame passage between rooms, or mounted flat against a wall to create a focal feature. They are also repurposed as grand frames for mirrors, headboards, or wall alcoves.

Dust regularly using a soft-bristled brush to clear debris from deep relief crevices. Avoid liquid chemical cleaners or excessive water exposure, applying a clear beeswax paste sparingly if hydration of the timber is required.
