Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in regional France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these jugs were constructed by local coopers to store and pour cider. The Arts and Crafts movement elevated these utilitarian agricultural items into decorative decorative arts through refined metalwork and wood craftsmanship.

These vessels are constructed using vertical oak staves shaped to form a tapered cylinder. They are bound with hand-formed copper or brass hoops and finished with a metal-lined rim, spout, and attached handle.

Authentic period examples feature individually shaped wooden staves, hand-riveted metal bands, and signs of natural oxidisation on the metal. Wear consistent with historical liquid containment and age-related patina on the timber also indicate age.

Display the jug as a standalone sculptural object on a dining table, kitchen island, or sideboard. It can also function as a vessel for dried botanical arrangements in rustic or transitional room schemes.

Keep the timber dry and apply clear beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the wood finish. Avoid filling the vessel with water, and wipe the copper bands with a dry microfibre cloth to retain the aged patina.
