Description

A LARGE late 19th / early 20th century carved and decorated mahogany Table Snuff Box in the form of a shoe.

Those of you used to the much smaller 'pocket-sized' snuff shoes of just a couple of inches in length, will appreciate the sheer size (and weight) of this example. 12.25 inches (31cm) long.

There are two sliding panels for snuff. One (the larger one) is on the top, with a sliding panel, that slides forward. The interior is lined in faux tortoiseshell. The second, another smaller sliding panel, is in the base of the heel. Again the interior is lined with faux tortoiseshell.

The outer surfaces are decorated with brass studwork in a floral decorative manner.
