A fine and unusual zoomorphic sauceboat modelled with a fox head body and swan handle, and an acanthus leaf design around the base. Made in pearlware with wonderful bright enamel colour decoration. The condition is good with a slight hairline on the rim, some loss to enamel colours on the swan’s wings and a slight colour fault to the side of the mouth of the fox. Made in Staffordshire at the beginning of the nineteenth century this is a superb piece of early Staffordshire ware. C.1810.
