Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

French console tables gained prominence during the Louis XIV and later Rococo periods, designed primarily to be placed against a wall beneath mirrors or paintings in formal salons.

Authentic pieces typically feature a solid oak or pine secondary wood carcass, veneered with figured walnut and exotic woods, accented with marquetry inlay, cast brass or bronze ormolu mounts, and fitted with a shaped marble top.

Authentication involves inspecting the hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-carved or cast metal mounts, natural ageing of the wood and marble, and traditional hand-applied French polish finishes rather than modern lacquers.

An antique console table works effectively in modern entryways or living rooms when paired with contemporary abstract art or minimalist lighting to create a striking contrast between old and new design eras.

Protect marble surfaces from acidic liquids to prevent etching, dust the walnut regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply quality beeswax periodically while maintaining stable room humidity levels.
